Obituary of Robert Verity

Robert J. Verity passed away to be with our Lord, November 10, 2011 at Largo Medical Center, Florida. Born August 22, 1927 he was the son of the late Walter and Nellie (McGraw) Vertity. He proudly served in the US Army as a paratrooper during WW II. Upon returning to Lockport he met and married the love of his life, his wife of 62 years Constance P. (Martino) Verity on June 25, 1949. Retired from Harrison Radiator 31 years of service, he worked part-time as a blacksmith earning his journeyman from Cornell University. Robert was on the first football coaches for Lockport Little Loop, was a member of the UAW 686, American Legion and the VFW.
Besides his wife Robert is also survived by his children Robert (Peggy) Verity, David Verity, Vickie D'Angelo and Timothy (Gloria) Verity; grandfather of Jennifer (Eric) Heineman, Jeffrey (Amy Fisk) Prendergast, Joshua Verity, Jessica (Dr. Shade) Shaaban, Jamie Verity, Joel (Ann) Verity and the late Jonathan Verity; seven great grandchildren; brother of Gertrude (late Richard) Bars, John (Kathleen) Verity, Nancy (Boyd) Holtham, Donald Verity and the late Mary (late Donald) McAvoy, Walter Verity, Jr. and Helen Verity; son-in-law of the late Atillio and Mary (DiCarlo) Martino; brother-in-law of Dr. Charles Martino, Josephine (Leslie) Brewer, Jessie (late John) Salmeri, and the late Rose Marie Johnson, Theresa (late John) Terrinova and Maryann Drew; also several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Wednesday 4-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 AM in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 5 Saxton St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. Visit www.pruddenandkandt.com.
