My Friend Ernie
This is a truth that is always hard to accept, and is inexplicably painful, that you have just transited to the other side of eternity. Even though the sun has gone down on this part of our lives and, our lives are not over. We want to live it in a way that honors your memory. I enjoyed are talks I enjoyed the visits the history of your career the research ,i t was an honor to do and to learn more of what i had alway's wondered, and what we learned from each other. we had much laughter and great past recalls that brought both of us joy .the best part was when i bought the lions helmet and asked for your autograph and how big your eyes gotten and how honored and excited to do it.as you said you had to scribble because you were shakey but i said it was ok i knew who did it. and your biggest thing you said in your career was you tackling jim brown, and the discussions how i am a die hard packers fan and how you would talk all bout the legends and your biggest challenge was Ray Nitschke a tough guy to play against. we had great football memories but my friend You will not only be remembered as a great NFL player,(#59)and for the glory you brought to football, as you were a Champion on the Field and Ambassador off it. you embodied Detroit and the state of Michigan with your Grace. A man who will be known for your character, compassion and humility and Sense of Pride. you were an extraordinary man that everyone needed. you will be remembered as a legend on the field and the personification of excellence off. you were more than just an athlete to people you were an icon and a role model to so many. A true CLASS ACT to look up to and ASPIRE to be like.
how much you meant to so many people, and how how You were so instrumental in making so many lives change even today. I don't know if I said it enough during our friendship ,but I really hope you knew that. You helped many through so many issues in their live's who will forever Be grateful for that. I truly hope that everyone gets to experience a friend like you as i did. you were as genuine a man as they come. I wish I would have the opportunity to tell you that more. You were and still are ,loved by so many. Even though you are not here anymore, you will always be in everyone's heart. You were such a very special person and we all Know you knew that. the memories shared will forever be remembered. We will rejoice in the extraordinary life you were blessed to live, and we all feel grateful and so blessed to have been loved by such an amazing human being, I know that someday I will see you again, so we can continue where we left off. So for that reason ,I will not say goodbye now.(and neither will your favorite nurse Barbara) We will Just simply say, goodnight My Friend.
