Obituary of Delores Felicia Gailor
Delores Felice Gailor, beloved matriarch, went home to her Lord on February 26, 2023. She was under the care of Hospice and passed away at home surrounded by her family. Delores was born on September 30, 1932 and was a life-long resident of Lockport. She graduated in 1950 from LSHS and married her high school sweetheart Frederick Gailor in October, 1950 in a chapel at Mac Dill AFB in Tampa Florida, where Fred was stationed.
Delores and Fred had five children Jeffrey (Theresa), Suzanne, Daniel, Christopher and Jennifer; ten grandchildren Nicole (Jason) Darrough, Michelle (Greg) Pickering, Joshua (Melissa) Ficarra, Felicia Ficarra, Daniel (fiancé Jennifer) Gailor, Laura (fiancé Rob Tordoff), Austin (Stefanie) Gailor, Ryan (Bobby) Holmes, Nathan Gailor and James Gailor; fifteen great-grandchildren including Connor Doak and Jack Darrough, Gianna and Annalisa Ficarra, Hannah and Destiny Smarr, Hunter Stamp, Blaise, Rocco and Opie Tordoff, Madison and Bennett Gailor and Riley and Luke Holmes. Delores was predeceased by her husband Fred, sister Dorothy, brother Robert and her children Jeffrey and Jennifer.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s church from birth until its closing at which time she joined St. Mary’s church in Lockport where she became a very active member of the church community until their closing. She was on the LSHS reunion committee from 1951-2015, organizing parades and many events as well. She was the librarian and emcee of the Lockport Community band for several years which she enjoyed very much. Volunteering at LMH Ambulatory Unit was another of her ways to give back to the community. She also volunteered at St. Mary’s Food Pantry.
Delores loved entertaining and even hosted her own Living Wake two years ago as she wanted to be present for the celebration of her life.
She had many lifelong friends, including her high school club that would meet for lunch once a month. She lived in her neighborhood her entire life and loved joining in for bonfires and cookouts and other celebrations. You could always find a crowd on her front porch in the summertime, sharing a laugh and a glass of wine. Delores was grateful for the close friends, family and the neighborhood family who graciously spent time with her and cared for her. We want to remember her dear friend Raymond Waters. The two met when working for NCDSS and have remained the dearest of friends for fifty years. We love you Ray.
We would also like to thank Hospice who made it possible for Mom to remain at home, which was her greatest wish. You made this possible and we can never thank you enough. God Bless You All. We would appreciate any donations in Mom’s name to go to Niagara Hospice, Inc., 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094-1231
There will be a private graveside service at Cold Springs Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
