I am so thankful I knew Dee. What a wonderful human being. I first met Dee while working a summer job for the county and dubbed her the “Paternity Queen”. I will cherish the friendship we had and will miss her. Sending lots of love to Dee’s family.

I worked with Dee at NCDSS from 1976 to 1986. She was a delightful lady and I have enjoyed crossing paths with her when out and about in Lockport over the years since I left Social Services. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family as you all cope with your loss.

Never has there been a woman like you, Dee, so excited to greet each day. Even with the tragedies you endured, your smile seldom dimmed. Your energy for life was contagious. Although your physical presence is no longer with us, you will always remain a part of each and every life you touched. Fly with the angels, sweet Dee.

My mom, Annie Gephart, and Dee were great lifelong friends. Last March Dee sent me a 3 page story she had written which was her story of “How I Met Your Mother”. It was about the first day of school and seeing a curly-haired girl (my mom) in home room and then the same girl in shorthand class. I’ve read it over and over since Dee passed and I cherish it. I, too, spent many times in Dee’s company playing cards, having dinner and even taking a bus trip to the Catskills. She was truly an Angel on earth - beautiful inside and out. She went with me to make arrangements when my mom passed and even talked Father Dumphrey into playing Louis Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World” in the church! At first he said he would play it as we were walking out and she replied “c‘mon - it’s only a minute and a half long!” He relented and played it. Whenever I hear it my mom and Dee come to mind. Rest easy lovely lady - and thank you for all the love and laughs. Laurie (Gephart) Cogar
