Obituary of Michael Kenny

Michael A. Kenny Sr. passed away May 1, 2011 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born May 7, 1949 in Fulton, NY he was the son of Alfred and Myrtle (Parrow) Kenny. Michael devoted the majority of his career to the banking industry, most recently serving as Area Sales Manager for First Niagara Bank where he was responsible for overseeing eight branches. Michael joined First Niagara Bank after serving as Sales Manager for Key Bank for 15 years. Michael's love and passion for the banking industry was evident to his peers and his superiors, and his accomplishments were often recognized when he earned multiple awards for "Top Sales Manager of the Year." Perhaps his favorite personal accomplishment, however, was his mentoring of the many younger salesman and women throughout the years. He developed workshops where he would train managers and assistant managers to more fully develop clients' books of business by supporting clients' short-term and long-term financial needs. Indeed, despite the fact that he was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of 2010, he continued to display exemplary leadership qualities such that his employer awarded him the "Above and Beyond Award for 2010" in January of this year.
Michael's favorite hobbies included playing golf, reading financial periodicals, and being an avid sports fan. His favorite pastime, however, was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Michael is survived by his wife Pamela (Miller) Kenny of Lockport; father of Michael (Maureen) Kenny, Jr. of Cleveland, OH and Jason (Lisa) Kenny of Lockport ; grandfather of Janelle, Meagan, Trent, Michael Patrick, Aidan, Clare Kenny, Danielle and Nicholas Moon; brother of Sandra (Quentin) Silsby and Joseph (Nila) Gates; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday 3-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport where funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 AM. Interment will be in North Ridge Cemetery.
