Obituary of Anthony C. Ben

Anthony C. Ben passed away February 16, 2022 in Lockport Rehab & Health Care Center.  Born May 2, 1927 in Lockport he was the son of the late Charles and Jessie (nee Fiorella) Ben.  He served in the US Navy during WWII from Feb, 1945 to Aug, 1946 as a hospital apprentice 2nd class where he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and American Arena Campaign Medal. Additionally, he served in the Korean Conflict in 1951 as a hospital corpsman and ultimately served as a clinical laboratory technician before his honorable discharge.

On the GI Bill, Anthony Ben earned a Master’s Degree in Education and his Juris Doctor Degree both from State University of NY at Buffalo.  A lifelong Lockportian, he taught science at Emmet Belknap School before embarking on a successful 65 year long practice of law.  He retired in May, 2020 on his 93rd birthday.  A former member of The Knights of Columbus (4th Degree) and the Lockport Town and Country Club, he enjoyed spending winters in Florida, lunching with friends, boating, reading, and especially spending time with his family.

Anthony was predeceased by his daughter, Denise (Patrick) O’Donnell and sisters Josephine (Late LaDoit) Casino, Stella (Late Patrick) McGuire, Rose (Late August) Corea.

Anthony is survived by his wife of 50 years, Earlene (nee Wallace) Ben; sons Charles (J Suzan) Ben and James (Tricia) Ben; step-son Michael Carlton; grandchildren Stephanie (Marc) Powell, David (Brigid Cafferty) Ben, Tony O’Donnell, Sean (Kelly Rutledge) O’Donnell, Alexandra Ben, Elizabeth Ben, and Jaime Ben; great grandchildren Benjamin Rutledge, Reagan and Mackenzie Powell; also several nieces and nephews.

There will be NO prior visitation.  Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
