Vic has been like a Dad to me for the last 15 years. He was a man of God, country & family - one of the best friends I have ever had. We shared a ton of laughs & enjoyed the game of golf together. He was one of the best men of the “ greatest generation”.

Mr. Cleri taught me to swim in the summer of '64 at the LSHS pool - Red Cross summer program, I believe. Gym class with Mr. Cleri was always terrific, through my high school years. I graduated from UB and got to know his old stomping grounds.....Rotary Field, and Clark Athletic Hall. He was the best. Always kind and encouraging. There must be thousands of LSHS grads who feel the same way. I have not forgotten Mr. Cleri, never will.

He was always so warm and caring and I loved no matter what restaurant we were at there were always so many who came over to say hello and talk with him. I was married to Vics son Curt and spent many a Sunday at Vics mom and dad's house with Aunt Jenny and all of the family. Great Italian food and great company. Late in his life I would see Vic at the doctors office where I worked and sometimes LaPorts. He was always kind to me and my husband. He will be missed by many. Very special man and family RIP Vic. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I first met Vic at one of your family picnics at the lakeside cottage. As the afternoon progressed, he sat beside me and regaled me with stories of his post-war flying experiences. From that time forward, whenever our paths crossed he always made sure to greet me warmly, pause to converse and leave me feeling my day had been made better. During the time I knew him, he overcame several significant challenges. He was an inspiration. He will be greatly missed.

To Vic's Family,
My sincere condolences and prayers at the lost of a wonderful man. Vic was one of the very first people I meant when I was assigned the pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Lockport. He welcomed me with open arms and invited me to have breakfast with the church crew after morning Mass. We hit it off immediately and became good friends. Vic had a strong faith in God, church and was devoted to his family and many friends. He will be missed!
Sincerely,
Fr. Dan Young

Remembering the many faculty room sports talks at LHS. There was never a sports trivia question COACH didn’t know before anyone else could even think about. The respect that every new staff member gave Vic is a testament to the professional example Vic gave to everyone. Vic always spoke softly but everyone knew there was a strength that few could match. His alter boy duties at St. Joe’s Church is a testament to the value he gave to his faith. God bless you “Mr.Cleri”. May you Rest In Peace!

I have been wintering in Durham for some 15 years and was always happy to be able to run into Vic on my return. We had many mutual friends and I could catch up on the news in a few seconds after Mass. It was a pleasurable experience every time. There was not a nicer man in the entire town that I met in the last 50 years. I'll have a candle lit, or something else viral proof before I return. I hope you all are at peace. Doc
