Obituary of Salvatore J. Incardona

Salvatore “Sam” J. Incardona passed away suddenly January 31, 2020. Sam was born August 31, 1938 and raised in Buffalo, NY. He was the son of the late Onofrio and Rose (Grisanti) Incardona. He graduated from Seneca Vocational High School and Buffalo State College with a Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree in Education. Sam was a teacher in the Lockport School System for thirty-four years, mostly at Emmet Belknap, retiring in 1994. As a driving safety instructor Sam taught Driver Education throughout WNY.
Professionally, Sam was involved in many educational organizations. He was a member of the LEA, NYSUT, and the AFT. He was very active in the Lockport and state teachers unions. He served as chief negotiator, as well as President. Sam served on the Executive Board for over twenty years. He also represented Lockport at the State level. He was a member of the Lockport Schools Federal Credit Union, serving in various capacities over the years as a member of the Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee, and Credit Committee.
Sam belonged to various bowling leagues. He served as President of the Lockport Bowling Association, received the Director of the Year award, and was elected to the Lockport Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He also was President of the Lockport Teachers Bowling League. He and his family belong to St. John's Church in Lockport, where he was involved with the CCD program as a teacher. Sam made his first degree in the Knights of Columbus in 1969. He was Grand Knight of Council 319, member of 4th degree Assembly 0754, and served as District Deputy at the WNY Chapter level. He also has represented the Lockport Council as a delegate to the Western New York Chapter, Western New York Conference, and State Conventions. For his efforts he was elected Knight of the Year and was an honorary life member of Lockport Council 319. He also spent time with the Lockport Knights Club, as Council Representative, Director & Vice-President. Sam was a member of the BPOE #41 Elks serving on the scholarship committee. Sam also was a Seneca Vocational High School Association life member.
Sam enjoyed golfing with his friends and was an avid Yankees and Bills fan.
Sam is survived by his wife, Barbara (Moore) Incardona of 61 years; children Timothy Incardona, late Jeffrey Incardona, and Christine (Todd) Fragale; siblings Mary Lou Incardona and Cosimo (late Louise) Incardona; grandchildren Jasmin, Samantha (Shawn) Mangan, Breanne, Jeffrey, Murphy, Josh Incardona, Delaney and Colin Fragale, as well as four great grand children.
