I met Bob at Hospice Grief Support after his wife passed away and later he moved to our complex at Pinegrove Estates in Lockport. His love for his wife and family were beyond measure. He was a great man with compassion and care for everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Bob you served your life and your God we’ll and I have no doubt that when God welcomed you he simply said, “welcome home faithful servant...job well done”

Coach Ames was my wrestling coach all threw high school. More than a great coach he was a great person. Coach Ames never discouraged anyone from participating in any sport he was associated with. His calm demeanor and fatherly touch led many of us achieve goals far beyond our own expectations. In my adult life I have often reflected back to those long practice days on the mattes at Anna Merit school where we learned to push ourselves to to a higher level. In my senior year Ronny Mott and I shared the MVP award in wresting, I was honored to be associated with one of Lockport High Schools best athletes. Thanks to Coach Ames for instilling a belief in myself.

Ames family,
The Hicks' extend our deepest condolences and sympathies for the loss of Bob. When I asked my dad (Tom Sr.) about Bob he shared some great memories about the coaching he received in football and basketball. My dad looked up to Bob as a mentor and he (as we all are) is saddened by his loss. We are sorry we can't attend the services and wish you all the best.

To all the Ames family: Please accept my deepest sympathies for the passing of Bob. He was the one who helped me get started in coaching back in the 1980's. His upbeat presence, his work ethic and his devotion to family are the memories I carry with me. I always enjoyed seeing him-- he always brightened my day and was very kind to me.This is a great loss for you and for the community. Please accept y deepest sympathies from the Albuquerque area.

Thoughts and prayers are with you all. I hope you find comfort in knowing that you were a tremendous source of joy and pride to your dad grandpa. It has been an honor and privilege to have had a friend of such stellar character, talent, generosity, and kindness. Bob is with his beloved Joanie now and their goodness lives on in each of you.
