Anytime I had to testify in his quart room and a DWI case he made sure to inform the Jersey that I was United States veteran and former army ranger. He always acknowledged and loved veterans and somebody who did good police work. A hard charger and a truly dedicated man, rare find in today’s world. He will be missed

I have to clarify Keith's comments. I was chief defense counsel and Ted worked for me. His clients kept coming by office and asking if Captain Brenner was really a lawyer. Ted had nothing in his office to indicate that he was a lawyer or a law school graduate. He was always wearing camouflage utilities and often a flack jacket! I ordered Ted to display something in his office that showed that he was actually a lawyer. The next morning I checked to see if Ted had complied with my order. He had. His Harvard law degree, unframed, was spiked to wall behind his desk. All I said was "well done" Ted.

I am truly shocked and saddened to learn of Ted's passing. I had the honor of working and collaborating with one of the most intelligent, caring, and funny people this community has and will ever know. He was always available to give sound advice or simply to listen. I thank you friend for your service to our country and the extremely important services you performed for the public, making it a safer place for all of us. Youre dedication to veterans and helping to create one of the first Veterans Courts is just one more thing you blessed with your involvement. God bless you and I pray your family finds peace in knowing what a great man you have been, and the mark you have left on so many who were lucky enough to meet you.

I served with Ted at MCAS Cherry Point. For six months, we shared an office. He was the most honest, genuine, ethical person I ever met. He was such an unassuming blue-collar guy that I found out he went to Harvard only when Colonel Wholley came into our office one day and asked him where his diploma was. His response was complicated and wonderful, but Colonel Wholley gave him a direct order to put it on his wall. The next day, he brought it in and drove a ten penny nail through it, making sure it hung crooked. I’ve never been to Buffalo, but it must be a wonderful place with amazing salt of the Earth people because that is how he always described it to me. Rest In Peace, Brother.

I served with Ted as a fellow judge advocate at Cherry Point MCAS. Ted was the most colorful character of all the great Marines with whom I served. I have many fond memories of his various exploits of this time. I am grateful to have known him and am sorry that he has passed so soon. I agree with another fellow former Marine JAG that the world will be a little less fun for Ted having left it. Semper Fi, Ted!

To the Brenner family – I am beyond sad to hear of Ted’s passing. Ted was a wonderfully unique individual, so full of life who brought the rare gift of laughter to so many. As a Fairchild kid growing up across the street from the Brenners, I remember Ted doing his daily ‘jogs’ around the neighborhood and playing football, baseball, and whatever other street games were going on with the Fairchild gang that day. On annual Pounder Fest days, in addition to the 16-ounce beers Ted passed out to whoever visited, I also remember the sofa parked in the middle of the snow covered front lawn, and the bright pink flamingo stuck in the snow next to the sofa, along with a fire burning in the metal garbage for warmth in the 20-degree January weather. On good weather days, I remember a fully-grown Ted hopping on whatever tricycle was sitting out on the sidewalk to go for a ‘ride’ down the street – peddling with his knees nearly as high as his ears. I also recollect Ted’s love of animals – to include ‘Donald’ – his white duck that laid eggs….and of course…. each 4th of July when Ted with his booming voice led the Fairchild chorus of ‘Gutty’s got ‘em!!’
Ted has joined his mom Daisy (voted every Fairchild kid’s favorite mom) and his dad Bob, but memories of him and the profound impact he had on so many lives will endure for years to come.

Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep
By Mary Elizabeth Frye
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

I can only say how saddened I am to read about Ted’s death . Ted was a special person and meant a lot to myself and other members of NTPD . I worked with him often as I was an officer in the PD but more importantly that brought me close to Ted was my position of lead accident investigator on the Pd for several years . I could always turn to Ted for advice and guidance even if it was in the middle of the night in the effort to have an air tight case and protect the victom(s) in a DWI . I always felt as if Ted and I had a very special relationship over the years and he will be missed ! God bless you my friend . RIP . Richard Biro NTPD 45.

Growing up in the Fairchild neighborhood and knowing Teddy Brenner was a special thing. Always considerate of his friends and family. So Brilliant. Always brought a laugh to anyone who was near to him.
Memories of baseball at Eggert Rd school, Fairchild floods, used Christmas tree sale, the day he brought home the Cadillac, times showing me his coin collections, playing army and other neighborhood game. Teddy was the best.
It was always fun to knock on the Brenner's inside garage door and say hello to anyone who answered.
To Bob, Jim, Janet and the family the memories are endless.
My sincere condolences. One in a million is one thing for sure you can say about Teddy.

Ted was a great guy - so highly intelligent, yet humble. Incredibly funny, yet a fierce prosecutor. As a Harvard educated attorney he could have practiced law anywhere, but he chose to dedicate his career to making the streets of Niagara County safer. He was military veteran, a Marine, and so proud of his service. I will always be thankful that I had the chance to know him, to work with him, and to watch him do what he did so well.
God speed, Ted.

Memories of a great childhood came to me as this sad news of Teddy's death. We were all very close as children, but sadly not enough as adults. Teddy was always fun to be with, we all played , girls and boys, matchbox cars, baseball, mother may I,hide and seek, cowboys and Indians, bicycles to the tick tock... dog dew island, and so much more. Teddy was great! And "yes" they don't make any Ted Brenners anymore! To the Brenner Family, My Deepest Sympathy! Betsy

A Giant in his quest against drunk drivers, and at the same time,trying to reach them to have a change in heart, by facilitating the Victim Impact Panel. He gave to the community more than will ever be known. I was very proud to be his friend. We will miss him greatly. Rest in Peace "MY FRIEND".
