Obituary of Frances C. Marky
Frances Claire Marky passed away September 24, 2018 in Elderwood at Lockport at the age of 92 after a life well lived and well loved. Born August 18, 1926 in Leroy (Pavilion), NY she was the daughter of Milton and Jessie (Andrews) Preston. Frances graduated (East Pembrook) Corfu High School in 1944, earned her RN degree from Buffalo General in 1947 and worked 35 years at Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. She grew up in various places between Indian Falls and the Oatka Trail and then lived in Buffalo, Kenmore and Lockport and spent several winters in Okeechobee and Ft. Pierce, Florida. An avid reader, she also enjoyed sewing and was a wonderful cook for family and friends which were always welcome at her table. Generous with her advice on the correct way to do things, she will also be fondly remembered for her caring heart, a witty sense of humor and a wonderful smile that would light up any room, even until her final days. Frances was predeceased by her husband of 59 years George (Buster) Marky on August 6, 2010, her son Dean Marky, grandson Greg Flatt, and her brothers John and Kenneth Preston.
Frances is survived by her daughters Diane Marky of Oregon, Susan (Robert) Vasko of Lockport, and Sandy (Harry Flatt) Marky, DVM of Medina; grandchildren Ryan (Cassie) and Eric (Tori) Vasko, and Jennifer (Brad) Hillman; great-grandson Reagan Hillman; sister Ada Lucille (late Robert) Votry and sister-in-law Mary Preston; also survived by several nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, Oct. 19th from 5-8 PM and Saturday, Oct. 20th from 10 AM – 12 Noon in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where a celebration of both her life and her late son, Dean C. Marky who passed suddenly on September 14, 2017 will be held Saturday, Oct. 20th at 12 Noon. Luncheon to follow, please contact family if attending. Marky, Dean C. of Hanford Bay, Silver Creek NY, passed away suddenly of natural causes September 14, 2017 at age 66; Born August 16th, 1951 he was the loving son of the late Frances C. (Preston) Marky and the late George C. Marky. Prior to retirement, Dean worked as Operations Supervisor of CRESE Lab @SUNY,Buffalo and part-time at Buffalo Gun Center.
