Sad to hear that the one, the only, Gray Goose has passed on. He played a huge part in shaping me to who I am. Besides teaching, I currently run an Outdoor Education program. Besides the daily activities, I organize and plan trips to Algonquin, Allegheny, Adirondacks, etc., and pass on the stories and songs that we all know so well, to the children who attend my outings. I will never forget my adventure to Algonquin with Goose as a Woodsman through Camp Kenan. From the freshly picked blueberries, the campfires, and the threat of making sure we did not get hypothermia, I will always be in debt to the patience, wisdom, and caring nature of The Old Gray Goose.
My condolences to Goose's family, and I know I speak for many campers, counselors, and staff of Camp Kenan when I say he will surely be missed.

So sorry for your loss. Goose will be fondly remembered by all of our family. He was such a wonderful person to know and he was always happy and supportive. He was someone that I and my kids looked forward to seeing every camp season at Camp Ohwata. He made a huge and positive impact on our lives and gave us a great example of serving and teaching our fellowman. He will be sorely missed. Kristy Locke and children. I had the great privilege of working with Goose at Camp Kenan. He was a wonderful mentor. I learned so much from watching and listening to him that I have used throughout my adult life of parenting and teaching middle school. He made the world a better place wherever he was. Peace!

My God, the "Old Gray Goose" from the YMCA Camp Kenan.
Still remember the "White Watusi" Chants in the Mess Hall at dinner during the summers of '65 & '66. Of the many wild tales he espoused, the most memorable was his account of "an African native's spear grazing and scarring the back of his scalp while on safari" in his early years.
He WAS the "Camp Kenan Experience" during those years. Purchased a music and story telling CD of him during a recent visit to Camp Kenan.
He will always be remembered, and is in a much better place now...
Good bye, Goose. We'll see you on the other side…

Goose was a fixture behind the desk at the YMCA for decades. I remember him growing up as a kid. He was a laid back and fun guy, who was positive, spiritual and kind to everyone. I had the pleasure of seeing him again 5 years ago in the annual Lockport parade, where he rode in a honorary positions in one of the decorated vehicles. He was recognized for his lifelong dedication to the youth of Lockport. May he enjoy his place in heaven.

So sad to hear of his passing. I met Goose through the 4-H Camp Owahta summer program for many years under the direction of Todd James. Such a wonderful person inside and out the campers loved his stories and energy! The staff here at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cortland County send their condolences to his family, he was a very special warmhearted man.

I met Goose as a camper at Camp Kenan as a child. He made a lasting impact on me. Hearing his stories, playing kickball in the woods at C.K.
I was lucky enough to acquire all of the CDs he recorded to share with my children.
My autistic brother absolutely loved his CDs. And once he lost his eyesight a little over 12 years ago, his Goose CDs gave him happiness.
Mine and my families life will be better because of his legacy.
Rest In Peace Goose ✌☮
