I first met John in basic training in April 1966. He was a "little" overweight and the drill instructors razed him constantly but it never fazed him. He was a constant source of humor and a nicer guy I have never had the pleasure of knowing. Strange how things work out because after I married my first wife, Sally Tagg, it turned out that John's wife was her best friend. We even use to have Toni babysit for us. We really never kept in touch but I will never forget the kindness he showed to people. Heaven is a better place now that you've gone to live there. Maybe we shall meet again some day. I hope so. Rest in peace my old friend and comrade in arms.
