Ellen Fitzgerald passed away August 26, 2010 under the care of Niagara Hospice after a long courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer. Born September 30, 1947 in Kenmore she was the daughter of the late W. Vincent and Sally (Tuyn) Martin. Ellen was a graduate from Rosary Hill College earning her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education then went on to earn her Master's Degree from Buffalo State College. She taught for the Lockport City School District for 25 years teaching at Anna Merritt Elementary and George Southard Elementary. Ellen was a past member of the Lockport Womens College Club and was a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Ellen is survived by her loving husband, whom she married June 27, 1970 in Kenmore, J. Michael Fitzgerald of Lockport; beloved mother of Michael (Adena) Fitzgerald of Fairfax, VA and Katherine (R. Charles) Bell of Amherst, NY; cherished grandmother of Alexis Fitzgerald, Matthew Fitzgerald, Thomas Bell and Abby Bell; dearest sister of Mary Martin of Lockport and Ann (Andrew) Koenig of Kenmore, NY; several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday 2-5 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport.
