Obituary of Fabian J. Schaffert

Fabian J. Schaffert Jr. passed Thursday August 24, 2017 in Briody Health Care Facility. Born in Lockport on May 28, 1927, he was the son of the late Fabian J. Sr. and Gertrude Wynn Schaffert. Fabian served in the US Navy during WWII from 1944 until 1946. He retired from Harrison Radiator . He enjoyed gardening, playing golf, traveling to Florida to see his sisters and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Fabian is predeceased by his wife, Mary (nee Smith) Schaffert, who passed away July 9, 1997.
He was the father of Fabian J. "Joe" (Darlene Ribbeck) Schaffert III, Cynthia (Gary) Saj, Theresa (late Jeffrey) Zwicker, Sandra Tracy, Margaret (James) Hereth and Julie (Greg) Shaffer; grandfather of 16 and great grandfather of 14. Fabian was the brother of Mary Bell, Dorothy Schuster and the late Helen Mahar and Frances Moose. Fabian is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
There will be no prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday August 28th at 10 AM, in All Saints RC Parish, 76 Church Street, Lockport. Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum. In Lieu of flowers, memorials to a veteran charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family. Online Condolences at www.pruddenandkandt.com.
