Obituary of Robert K. Miller

Robert K. Miller passed away July 27, 2017 under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born May 10, 1927 in Lockport, NY he was the son of Harold and Linda (Lewington) Miller. At the end of the Great Depression his family moved to England in search of work. Robert later joined the US Army while in England and served from 1945 to 1946 during WW II earning the World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. He returned to Lockport at the end of the war working various jobs until returning to England to attend the Brixton School of Building. After completing his education and apprenticeship he returned to the US and worked at the Albert Elia Building Company before starting his own business, Robert Miller Construction, Inc., in 1961. Before retiring in 1993, some of his more notable projects were the reconstruction of Grace Episcopal Church, several Ames Department Store anchored shopping centers across the state and many buildings along the Transit Road corridor in the Town of Lockport.
Robert was a private pilot and world traveler. He enjoyed swimming, racquetball and playing tennis with his friends in Florida in his retirement years.
Robert is survived by his children Glen (Susan) Miller, Robert (Sandra) Miller, Kathleen (Kenneth) Stamm and the late William (late Doneen) Miller; grandfather of nine; brother of Barbara (Richard) Stahl and predeceased by Dorothy (Bertram) Baker, Joyce (Howard) Hoffman, Joan Miller and Albert Miller, and; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, July 31st from 3-7 PM at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 1st at 11 AM at Grace Episcopal Church, 100 Genesee St., Lockport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive or St. Patrick's Cemetery c/o All Saints Parish, 76 Church Street, both in Lockport, NY 14094 would be greatly appreciated by the family.
