My brothers and I knew Bob Miller our entire lives. My brother, Eric, coined the phrase, "Uncle Miller," when he was probably 3 years old, and I was 5. And at 50, I can only see him as my Uncle Miller. He was our uncle. He wrote a letter of recommendation that proved key to my getting into the US Air Force Academy. And he was there when I graduated...and when I became a Wing Commander 21 years after that. He was a mentor, a confidant, and an endless source of wisdom and good natured humor in good times and bad. My wife, daughter and I will miss his presence in our lives. He lived huge every day. So...as a former USAF pilot, I offer my Uncle Miller the classic pilot's send off: "Fair skies and tailwinds, Sir. I'll meet you at the Officers' Club when my mission is done. First round on me."

Mr. Miller was a profound influence on our family. One of my earliest childhood memories is climbing on him to play "horse ride" after he ate a meal with us in Florida in 1981. At the time, I had the sense that my father was anxious for me to settle down, but I think Uncle Miller (as we kids called him) truly enjoyed my playfulness. As I started my adult career, he would counsel and encourage me on matters related to my business endeavors. During his visits with our family, we were guaranteed wise conversations regarding current events and life experience. I will miss him, and I will not forget him.
To Uncle Miller's family: you are in my thoughts and prayers during this time. Please accept my sincere condolences.

We will greatly miss Bob. He was a great influence to me, Julie and our kids. I loved his wisdom and ideas and he always seemed to help me understand issues from various perspectives. We really enjoyed our Sunday morning coffee and donuts after Mass at Holy Redeemer Church. He and Alice were so much fun to be around.
I know he will continue to look after us from a better place.
