Eleanor Madelyn (Tompkins) Wascovich passed away peacefully on August 13, 2016. She was born on June 12, 1939 in Emporium, Pennsylvania to the Honorable Edwin W. Tompkins and Margaret G. Tompkins (nee Glass). Eleanor was beloved by her husband Fred G. Wascovich and her children Andrew G. Wascovich, Amy M. Loiacano (Charles), and Barbara A. Wascovich. Along with her grandchildren, Charles Mitchell Loiacano, Madeline R. Loiacano, Jack A. Wascovich, and Marguerite A. Wascovich, she is survived by many other nieces and nephews. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1960 and moved to Lockport in 1961 where she taught Elementary School at Charlotte Cross and Anna Merritt for 5 years. After raising her family, she worked at several local churches, the Lockport Chamber of Commerce and, most recently, Saint Mary's Parish until her retirement. She was a very dedicated and active member of Saint Mary's Parish and Saint Vincent de Paul Society. She enjoyed cooking and baking, music, knitting, quilting, and most importantly being surrounded by her family and friends. Eleanor was a tolerant Bill's fan, and had a fantastic sense of humor; She will be missed by all who knew her.
