Dorothy Mae Gately passed away on Friday July 1, 2016. Born in Lockport on March 12, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Frank O. and Catherine Gardner Allison. Dorothy was the owner, operator beautician for the past 50 years of Dorothy Gately Beauty Salon. She was a member of St. John the Baptist RC Church in Lockport and the Women's Bridge Club, she enjoyed arts and crafts including creating flower arrangements for weddings. She is survived by her husband Richard Gately of Lockport and was the mother of Thomas M. Gately of Va. Beach, Timothy R. Gately, Daniel A. (Joni) Gately and David P. (Jill) Gately all of Lockport and the late Diane M. (Carey) Turney. Grandmother of Amber, Tyler, Ashlee, Keith, Ryan, Nathan, Brandon, Eric and Travis; great grandmother of two. Dorothy was the sister of Eugene Allison of NC, and the late Joanne, Richard and David. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday July 6th, 4-8 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday July 7th at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated by the family.
