Obituary of John David Oates

J. David Oates passed away on Wednesday February 14, 2024 at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston,  surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lockport on May 7, 1965, he was the son of the late John P. and Mary Rhoda (Green) Oates.  David is a retired Buffalo Postal carrier, he also served in the US Army from 1985-1987.  David was a graduate of NCCC in the Culinary Arts Program. He was an active member of the Moose, VFW and the Navy Marine Club.  David truly enjoyed hunting, wintering in Florida and spending time with his family and friends.

David is survived by his siblings Patrick (Meg Laux) Oates, Monica (James) Berry, Joseph Oates, Daniel Oates, Matthew Oates, Leslie Oates, Stephine (Lou) Luc, and Kathleen Oates-Bowen.  He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday February 19th from 4-7 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport where visitation will conclude with Military Honors.  In Lieu of flowers, memorials to Sister Helen’s Food Pantry, c/o St. John’s Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport, NY 14094, would be appreciated by the family.  Online condolences at www.pruddenandkandt.com.
