Rodney William Conrad Jr., March 13, 2017, of Lockport, NY, born September 11, 1946, loving son of Rodney William Conrad Sr. and Virginia (O'Grady); beloved husband of Molly (Healy); dear father of Rodney and Karen (Michael) Root; adoring grandfather to Michael and Conrad Root; brother of Ginnia Kelsey (Gary), Kristin Conrad (Hugo Uyttenhove) and Michael Conrad; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Rodney was born and raised in Lockport, NY and graduated from Lockport Senior High School Class of 1964. He graduated from Ball State University where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He started his career as a teacher at North Park Junior High in Lockport, NY, where he exhibited a passion for education. Rodney was the former President of the Lockport School District Board of Education and the Executive Assistant for the Buffalo Board of Education. He also served in a number of community development roles, including Director of Urban Development at ECIDA; and Project Manager for Pilot Field (now Coca Cola Field). He was a longtime member of the Town of Lockport Planning Board and the Board of Directors for the Lockport Family YMCA, where he was a lifetime member. Rodney was most recently championing the YMCA's expansion project for which he was an active Project Manager. He was also a proud member of the Lockport Elks BPOE 41 and one of the founders of the former Canoe Club of Lockport. Relatives and friends may call Friday, March 17th from 4-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 18th at 11 AM in First Presbyterian Church, 21 Church St., Lockport.
