John L. Sobieraski passed away Wednesday May 18, 2016. Born in Lockport on April 10, 1937, he was the son of the late Stanley and Katherine Genewick Sobieraski. John graduated from DeSales High School, Class of 1956 and went on to serve in the US Army from 1961 to 1962. John was a Police Officer for the Lockport Police Department for 28 years, retiring in 1988 as a Detective. John was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Hickory Club, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
John is survived by his wife of 18 years Bonnie (nee Holmes) Sobieraski. Father of Brett Sobieraski, Julie Sobieraski and Shari Lynn Sobieraski; step father of Christopher (Yvonne) McClanahan, David (Heather) Leihgaber and Lauren Leihgaber; and grandfather of Zachary, Gabriel and Shelby. John is also survived by his brother Charles (Elaine) Sobieraski and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no prior visitation. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Tuesday May 24, 2016 at 10 AM in All Saints RC Parish, 76 Church Street, Lockport. Online condolences at www.pruddenandkandt.com.
