Obituary of Donald P. Richmond

Donald Paul Richmond, of Lockport, completed his journey and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 14, 2015. Born to the late William Douglas Richmond and Helen Lorraine Rooney, November 30, 1943, Don resided in Lockport for most of his entire life. Don worked at the Lockport Union-Sun and Journal for over 35 years, retiring as a Pressman in 1995. A patient and humble man, he will be dearly missed by his loving wife, June Lucille Manning, and their children, Jeffrey P. (Alisa) Richmond, Mark E. (Sandra) Richmond, and Deana J. (Randy) Jaques. Don also leaves behind seven Grandchildren. Don was predeceased by his brother William (Dawn) Richmond, and is the brother of Judith (Raymond) Goldsmith, Virginia (Robert) Flynn, and Thomas (Vicky) Richmond, all of Texas, and Marsha (Edward) Wendt of Virginia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He enjoyed many hobbies in his time, including camping and the outdoors, RC airplanes, and family. In his youth he was an avid baseball player, and could usually be found at the Lockport city ballparks. He also enjoyed motorcycles, hunting and reloading. He loved researching and reading about those things and hobbies that interested him. After retiring in 1995, Don and June spent some winter time in Florida, and also worked as caretakers at Army Corp of Engineers campgrounds. The Adirondacks, a road trip out West, travel in the northeast and good food were also high on the list. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Niagara Hospice House, 4675 sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
