Obituary of Barry LaPort

Barry J. LaPort passed away Wednesday May 22, 2013, peacefully surrounded by his family, after 15 year gallant fight with cancer. Born in Lockport on March 5, 1947, he was the son of the late Franklin and Margaret English LaPort. Barry worked at Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors, in production and as a plant security Supervisor, from 1965 until he retired in 1997. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 41 in Lockport, Past President of the Worthington Ridge Homeowners' Association, a former Councilman for the Town of Royalton and Past President of the Fort Myers Condominium Association. Barry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy (nee Bowerman) LaPort, whom he married November 2, 1968. He is the father of Brendon (Lauren) LaPort and Brooke (Scott) Balcerzak and grandfather of the precious love of his life, Nora Mae Balcerzak. Barry is predeceased by his brother, Franklin LaPort, Jr. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, Inc., 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where services will be held, Saturday morning at 11 AM. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery. Memorials to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Niagara Hospice would be appreciated by the family. <h3>Visitation</h3> Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 PM. <h3>Services</h3> Funeral services will be held, Saturday morning at 11 AM at the funeral home. <h3>Interment</h3> Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.
