Elmer H. "Red" Lederhaus passed away November 21, 2009 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born March 19, 1925 in Lockport, he was the son of Elmer H. and Dorothy (Lambalzer) Lederhaus, Sr. "Red" served proudly in the Army Air Corp with the 748th Bomber Squadron from August 1943 to 1946, attaining the rank of Staff Sgt. Upon returning from service he graduated from Bryant Stratton College. "Red" married Margaret "Jean" Crane on October 29, 1949, she passed away September 24, 2002. He owned and operated the Transit Road Car Wash for several years. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association, Elks Lodge #41 for over 50 years, Lockport Town and Country Club and the International Car Wash Association.
He is survived by his sons Bradley (Wendy) Lederhaus and Timothy (Linda) Lederhaus both of Lockport; grandfather of Brenden, Eliza and Weston. He was the brother of Shirley (the late Joseph) Brewer of Lockport and the late Raymond Lederhaus and also is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock in the Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6965 Chestnut Ridge Road, Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
