Obituary of Esther Wallace

Esther M. Wallace, 94, Lockport dance instructor and wife of the late Donald H. Wallace went to her eternal home on April 19, 2013 after a brief stay at the very caring Niagara Hospice House. Born January 6, 1919 in Lockport she was the daughter of Ernest Dussault and Margaret (Rohde) Dussault McKeever. Esther was Baptized, Confirmed in St. Peter's United Church of Christ and married to her husband Donald on June 7, 1940. Donald passed away on July 1, 2001. Esther was a life member of Dance Educators of America since 1953, elected to its board of directors in 1977 and president of the group in 1979 and 1980. Esther began her dancing career as a pupil of Mrs. Enza Rooney of Lockport in 1932. After graduating from Lockport High School she studied dance in New York City. She opened her own studio on Locust Street in 1957, "Esther Wallace School of Dance". After 50 years of teaching hundreds of children and the grandchildren of former students Esther retired her dancing shoes and traded them in for golf shoes. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, playing cards, being with her family and friends, and volunteering at Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport.
Esther is survived by her three sons Gary Wallace, Roger (Darlene) Wallace both of Lockport, and Jon (Eileen) Wallace of Fountain Hills, AZ; grandmother of Bret A. Wallace of Cheektowaga and Dr. Kori Wallace of Santa Monica, CA; sister of the late Lois B. Godfrey and she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 7-9 PM and Monday, April 22, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 11 AM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 11 AM in the funeral home.
<h3>Interment</h3>
Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.
