Obituary of Jean Brauer

Jean Brauer, 85, of Lockport, entered into rest on April 12, 2013, after a brief stay at the very caring Niagara Hospice. Born in Lockport, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances (Moran) Zapp. She was predeceased by her four siblings, Harold Zapp, Bernard Zapp, Rosemary Glena and John Zapp. She was a beautiful, kind, giving, frugal woman who dedicated most of her life to her late husband of 62 years,Richard Harold Brauer. She loved spending time with their five children, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She belonged to St. Mary&amp;#39;s and St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Churches. She was a member of the Lockport Hospital Guild, Gathering Gals Bridge Club and Newfane Senior Citizens Golden Age Club. Jean was a great bid Pitch player, square dancer, excellent cook and loved canning fresh vegetables and fruit. Jean worked at the old Norway as a cashier, in the office of Bells IGA and Niagara Auto Body Shop, and various jobs at the Union-Sun &amp; Journal. Jean is survived by her five children, Larry (Jackie) Brauer, Jeannine (John) Benoit of Lockport, Alan (Beverly) Brauer of South Carolina, Janet (Ted) Dudley and David (Sonya) Brauer, who both reside in Florida. Friends and family may call from 4-7 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, in Lockport on Monday, April 15th. A memorial service will be held for all Tuesday, April 16th at 10 AM, at the funeral home, followed by a burial service at Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lockport Presbyterian Home or Hospice of Niagara County.
