Mary Lou Blackley passed away Thursday April 4, 2013 in Niagara Hospice House. Born in Lockport on July, 22, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Louis P. and Mary C. Healy Shanley. Mary Lou worked for New York Telephone for 26 years as a Directory Assistant, until she retired in 1990. After retirement she worked for the Lockport City School District as a Teacher's Aide, she also volunteered with many organizations, including Lockport Memorial Hospital and the school district. Mary Lou enjoyed gardening, reading and playing bridge, she also loved her "Retreat" to Chautauqua. Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 62 years, Carl W. Blackley; mother of Brian (Denise) Blackley of Lockport, Timothy D. (Late Stacy) Blackley of Lockport, MariJo (Mark) Thistle of Buena Park, CA., Sean (Michelle) Blackley of Middleport, Patrick (Laura) Blackley of Palm Coast, FL. and Erin Buerger of Lockport; she was predeceased by her son Kevin Blackley; Grandmother of sixteen and Great Grandmother of two. Mary Lou was the sister of Nancy (Late, Dominic) Albanese of Medina, Carolyn (Mauro) Garafalo of Sarasota, FL., David (Wilma) Shanley of Orchard Park, Patricia (John) Joensen of Alexandria Bay, NY, Jane (Raymond) Coakley of Lockport and Marjorie (John) Heck of Santa Clara, CA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Sunday 2 to 6 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, Inc., 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport. Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum. In Lieu of flowers, memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094, would be appreciated by the family. <h3>Visitation</h3> Friends may call Sunday 2 to 6 PM. <h3>Services</h3> A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport. <h3>Interment</h3> Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum.
