Deacon Johnny "Joe Boy" Taylor passed away March 10, 2013 in the Houston County Hospital, Warner Robins, GA. Born in Oglethorpe, GA on September 21, 1946 he was the son of Edison and Arelia (Smith) Taylor. He worked as a maintenance worker at Calvin Furniture, being a former boxer himself Johnny was the owner and coach at JT Boxer and also a deacon at St. John the Baptist Church in Fort Valley, GA. Johnny loved his family and will always be remembered as a man with substance to his words of encouragement. He lived by example and expected his family to follow the same path. Johnny enjoyed fishing and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Johnny is survived by his wife Norma D. Taylor; father of Jennifer, Julie, Joseph, Joshua, and Johnny all of Lockport; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother of Ellen Johnson, Helen Keene, Mary Hamlin, Minnie Felton all of Fort Valley, GA, Sandra (Gerald) Carroll of Buffalo, Valerie (Gregory) Munroe of Batavia, Edison (Sandra) Taylor of Enterprise, AL, Ronnie Taylor, Ricky, Taylor both of Missouri, Roy Lee Taylor, Michael Taylor both of Batavia, Larry Taylor of Florida, and Jerome Parker of Fart Valley, GA; also survived by a host of in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
