Brian A. Griesser passed away February 21, 2013 in Buffalo General Medical Center. Born in Lockport on September 10, 1941, he was the son of Eugene and Rosemary (Lipp) Griesser. Brian was a fireman for the City of Lockport for 38 years, starting on January 1, 1964. He made Lieutenant on July 23, 1982, earning a commendation on October 26, 1985 with his brother, Dennis, exhibiting the highest degree of valor which is the tradition of the Fire Service to protect and preserve life and property from the ravages of fire, and also saved the life of a 51-year old woman by using CPR as well as a defibrillator, which he was trained to use. Brian was also awarded the American Legion Certificate of Commendation in April 1986 from the B. Leo Dolan Post 410 for being an outstanding fireman and carrying out the duties of a fire fighter in a manner which reflects credit upon all dire department personnel, and for dedication to the profession above and beyond the call of duty. He then earned Captain on May 16, 1995, and another commendation on July 24, 1995, for quick and decisive action tending to an automobile accident while off duty on June 22, 1995. Brian retired from the Lockport Fire Department on April 18, 2002.
