Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruth E. Granchelli passed away peacefully Sunday, February 3, 2013 in Medina Memorial Hospital. She was born October 14, 1924 to the late Alben and Hazel Smith Kane. She was raised by her grandparents, the Duhow's, of Barker NY. Ruth met and married the love of her life, Silver Granchelli, in 1942, and they shared 52 years together as best friends, until his death in 1994. He told her every day, "I am the luckiest man in the world," and all who knew Ruth knows that to be true. Together they overcame countless illnesses, the total loss of their home to a fire in 1965, and many personal losses of adored family and friends. Ruth will always be remembered as the strength of the family that loved her so dearly. Ruth's heart ached every day for the loss of her beloved son, Robert, and precious grandson, Christopher, who both predeceased her.
She is survived by her pride and joys, Linda (Ron) Anzalone, Joseph (Kathleen) Granchelli, Gary (Gail) Granchelli, John (Beth) Granchelli and Cheryl (Mike) Connolly. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Lynn Granchelli. Ruth is also survived by her, in her words, 21 "absolutely beautiful grandchildren", Jeff Anzalone, Rhonda (Gary) Anastasi, Ron (Jennifer) Anzalone, Joseph (Julie) Granchelli, Dean (Sara) Granchelli, Nicole (Chris) Goyette, Kate Granchelli, Richard Granchelli, Gary (Nancy) Granchelli, Mike Granchelli, Kim (Jeremy) Alford, Kayla Granchelli, Robert C. Granchelli, Lori (Richie) Panaro, John (Giada) Granchelli and Kelli Anne, David, Elizabeth, Kristina and John Connolly. Ruth is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law of Elmer (Vel) Granchelli, Richard (Mary Lou) Granchelli and Marion DiTullio; and many, many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors, who will miss her extraordinary giving nature, amazing cooking and breathtaking gardens.
Ruth ran a successful pizza business from her home for many years and is still remembered by many for having the best pizza in town. Ruth was the epitome of family courage, character and hard work. She is at peace in heaven.
