Barbara Jo Pate (Cheatham) age 71, of Lockport, NY peacefully passed away November 5, 2012 at Erie County Medical Center. Barbara was born November 1, 1941 in Brewton, Alabama. She's the beloved daughter of the late Roosevelt and Daisy Cheatham and predeceased by her husband Clarence Pate.
She is survived by her daughters Cynthia Kiner, Sheila Pate Moore both of Buffalo, Loroli "Denise" (Liavol) Blackwood and step-daughter Dawn Johnson of Lockport, sons Gregory and Keith Lockett of Florida and grandchildren Keyonna Moore of Niagara Falls and Antwon Moore of Chicago, IL. Barbara also leaves behind her brothers Richard Cheatham, Carl (Mary) Cheatham, Ronald (Renee) Cheatham of Lockport, Randolph (Louise) Cheatham of Montgomery, Alabama, Ruben (Lola) Cheatham of Niagara Falls and the late Roosevelt and sisters Annie (Wade) Smith, Flora (Kenny) Hawkins of Lockport, Rosie (Johnny) Mixon of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Daisy (Marc) Houston of Atlanta, Georgia. She is loved by so many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Barbara attended Lockport Public Schools and received her GED. She worked at various odd jobs and retired from Mount View Nursing Facility in 2003. She was a member of Living Outreach Ministry and former member of Friendship Baptist Church in Lockport. She enjoyed traveling, family reunions, the Lakers, spending time with family, friends and encounter no strangers.
She was a special "Angel" here on earth with her big smile and laughter.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, Nov. 10th from 10-12 Noon in First Baptist Church, 140 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will immediately follow at 12 Noon. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. Visit www.pruddenandkandt.com.
