Obituary of Norman Brady

Norman H. Brady was born October 1, 1915 in Thorrold, Ontario, Canada, the son of the late Peter and Margaret (Campbell) Brady, who emigrated from Glasgow, Scotland in 1913. He married Veronica Foltz on November 9, 1940 and they resided in Lockport their entire lives. On the 9th of this month it would have been their 72nd Anniversary. Norman moved to Lockport from Canada with his family as a young child. He graduated from Lockport High School in 1934 and joined the Army at the age of 17. He served in Panama for 3 years and upon his return to Lockport began working for Harrison Radiator. In 1944 he was drafted and served in the Army Air Corps, training at Langley Field, VA as an Air Traffic Controller. After returning to Lockport, he resumed working for Harrison Radiator until his retirement in 1974. After his retirement, he was employed as a Starter for the Niagara County Golf Course for several years. Norman was an avid golfer and for many years traveled with friends to the Carolinas or Florida to golf. Norman was a member of the B. Leo Dolan American Legion and when he was younger he coached a semi-professional football team, The South Enders, in Lockport. He enjoyed watching sports and bowling. He is survived by his wife, Veronica (Foltz) Brady, a daughter, Mary Demidovich of North Tonawanda, and sons Timothy (Dorothy) of Nyack, NY and Damien (Mary Kay) of Lockport. He is also survived by his sister, Hazel Calos of Lockport, his sister-in-law Elsie Brady of North Tonawanda and his brother-in-law Paul (Jean) Foltz of Lockport. His grandchildren Nickolas Demidovich III of Crystal City, Virginia, Catherine (Andrew) Bone of Setauket, NY, Peter Demidovich of Melville, NY, Natalie (Michael) Barnwell of Lockport, Patrick Sullivan of Ithaca, NY, Sean (Allison) Sullivan of Manomet, MA, Kelly (Joel) Janulewicz of Petaluma, CA, Ian (Amanda) Brady of San Diego, CA, Emily Brady of Nyack, NY, Damien B. Brady of Buffalo, NY, Erin Brady of Lockport and Austin Brady of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren many nieces and nephews and his lifelong friend, Frank Corica of Lockport. He is predeceased by his daughter Veronica "Babe" Sullivan, his son-in-law Nickolas Demidovich, his brother, James Brady, and sisters Mary Puff, Ethel Chambers and Margaret Gormley. Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 on Friday, November 9th at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport where funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 10th at 10:30 AM with the Reverend Stephen Calos officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B. Leo Dolan American Legion Color Guard.
