Obituary of Edmund Van Dusen

Edmund E. Van Dusen passed away September 8th, 2012 in the New York State Veterans Home, Batavia after a brief illness. Born April 5th, 1937 he was the step-son of Lucille "Lucky" Van Dusen and the Late Marshall Van Dusen. He served in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1958 during the Korean Conflict. "Ed" retired from from the City of Lockport where he worked in the Streets Department. He enjoyed Sports Cars and Muscle Cars from the 50's and 60's and was an avid baseball fan. "Eddie" was a pitcher in his younger years, pitching in Little League, High School and the Midget A Baseball League. It was while he was pitching in the Midget A League for the VFW Team at the age of 16, that he and the opposing pitcher
Dick Sherman of the Kiwanis Team, pitched 17 innings. It was the greatest pitching duel ever staged in youth baseball in Lockport going five hours. It was also reported that "Eddie" hit the single that drove in Mickey Schultz to win the game 1 to 0.
Besides his step-mother he is survived by his daughters Laura Emendorfer (Patrick)Blackley of Palm Coast, Florida and Diana Lynn Lancaster of Tucson, AZ; grandfather of Dylan and Brandon Blackley. He is the brother of Marcia Farley, Kevin (Ann) and Keith (Debi) Van Dusen, all of Lockport; step-brother of Kathleen Carr of San Clemente, California. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
