Obituary of Josephine Serio

Josephine F. Serio passed away October 16, 2009 in the home that she and her husband built. Born July 5, 1923 in Lockport she was the daughter of Charles and Palma (Domina) Ferruzza. Josephine graduated from Lockport High School class of 1941, she attended every reunion. Josephine worked for 45 years in the Human Resources for the UAW, Lockport. She volunteered at Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, was a dedicated traveler traveling to all 50 states and extensively internationally. Josephine was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church being part of the second generation of five generations and married her husband John Serio, in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, who passed away in 1977. She was caring to her family and friends, determined and true. Josephine was wrapped in faith, living each day as she wished to the last. She is survived by her sister Mary Ferruzza of Lockport and was predeceased by her brother Michael (Jeananne) Ferruzza, two sisters Jennie (late George) Fura and Cecelia (John) Sansone. Josephine was the aunt of Samuel (Charlotte) Sansone, Charles Ferruzza, Michael Ferruzza, Christopher Ferruzza and Mary K. (Daniel) Wachtel; also survived by three great nieces, two great nephews and three great-great nieces. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday 3-7 PM in Prudden &amp; Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 AM in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 391 Market Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
