Obituary of Joel Thomas

Joel Thomas passed away April 23, 2012 in Hospice House. Born December 10, 1957 in Buffalo, Joel was the son of Llewelyn and Betty Valentine Thomas. Joel graduated with a B.S. in Veterinary Technology from Medaille College. He was the Wildlife Administrator for the Erie County SPCA for 16 years retiring January 31, 2012. Joel was a member and Board Member of the Hess Road Wesleyan Church, a Hunter Safety Instructor, a member of the NYS Falconry Association, a musician playing the bass. He also enjoyed carpentry, hunting and fishing and was the author of Creature Comforts: Wildlife Stories and Solutions. Joel is survived by his wife of 22 years, Tracy Winstel Thomas; father of Justin (Amanda) Dixon of Albion and Hannah Thomas of Appleton; grandfather of Tyler A. Dixon. He is also survived by his sister Judith A. (Bryan) Meahl of Appleton and brothers James R. (Peggy) Thomas of AZ, Jeffrey A. (the late Charlene) Thomas of Buffalo and Jerol D. (Sherry) Thomas of FL. Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 PM in the Hess Road Wesleyan Church, 2514 Hess Road, Appleton, NY with a Memorial Service to follow at 7 PM.
