Obituary of Donald Craddock

Donald Joseph Craddock passed away March 28, 2012 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born July 7, 1928 in Lockport he was the son of the late James and Anna (Conlin) Craddock. Donald attended St. John's School, Emmet Belknap Middle School and graduated in 1947 from Lockport Senior High School. He served in the US Army from 1945 to 1947 where he ranked as a Sergeant First Class E7 Retired. Donald was awarded the Solder of the Year in 1973 with the National Guard which he was in for 21 years. He worked 41 years for Harrison Radiator where he was a skilled trade machine repairman retiring. Donald was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and the Harrison Retiree Travel Club. In his younger days he played semi-pro football for the Lockport ESSO's and Northenders, Donald also coached Lockport Little Loop Football in the 1960's. He enjoyed attending the Lockport Cruise Nights and especially enjoyed watching his grandsons, Kevin and David play football and also enjoyed spending time with his loving granddaughter, Chelsea. Donald is survived by his wife Ida Marie (Renna) Craddock of Lockport; father of Daniel (Jeanine) Craddock and Diane (Robert) Drury both of Lockport; grandfather of Chelsea M. Craddock, Kevin R. Drury, and David A. Drury; brother of Roberta Del Grosso of Sarasota, FL and the late James Craddock, William Craddock, Mary Roma-Simpson; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Friday 5-7 PM in Prudden &amp; Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where prayers will be offered Saturday at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 AM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Donations to Roswell Park Cancer Institute would be appreciated by the family.
