John Arter Obituary

John F. Arter passed away March 20, 2012 in Niagara Hospice House. Born February 28, 1959 in Lockport he was the son of the late Arnold B. and Josephine Marie (Corica) Arter. John was the pressman who was responsible for printing the Union Sun & Journal, Niagara Gazette, Medina Journal-Register, Tonawanda News, and KenTon Record. He started with the Lockport Union Sun & Journal and became the pressroom manager with the Great Niagara Newspapers. In his free time John enjoyed the outdoors, camping, woodworking and cars.


John is survived by his dear friend Lyn Ostolski and her daughter Abigail both of Pendleton; his two sons Michael (Jennifer) Arter of Pendleton and Jason (Megan Racino) Arter of Tonawanda; grandfather of Brayden and Adam; brother of David B. (Kathy) Arter of Lockport, Richard P. (Carla) Arter of Centerville, OH, Thomas M. (Mia) Arter of Des Moines, IA, and Cathi J. (David) McCaa of Middleport; also several nieces and nephews.


Relatives and friends may call Friday 4-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 AM. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery. Donations to Niagara Hospice or Roswell Park Cancer Institute would be appreciated. Visit www.pruddenandkandt.com.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 AM in the funeral home.
