Obituary of John Feeley

John Raskob Feeley a longtime Lockport businessman passed away February 13, 2012 after a brief illness. He was 92. Born June 12, 1919, he was the beloved son of the late Thomas T. and Margaret Clifford Feeley. John was also the cherished godson of entrepreneur, John J. Raskob, for whom he was named.
Mr. Feeley was a graduate of Lockport High School and of the Roosevelt School of Aviation (now part of Long Island University) with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. A licensed commercial pilot, he was commissioned an ensign in the United States Navy in early 1942. He served as a naval flight instructor and test pilot until 1946. Returning to Lockport, he formed the first of his two companies, Consolidated Fire Equipment and later he established Feeley Electric and divided his time between the two. He retired in 1989.
Active in the community, Mr. Feeley was one of the founders of the Lockport Navy-Marine Club. He was also a member of the B. Leo Dolan American Legion Post and a long time member of the Eastern Niagara Chamber of Commerce. He was also one of a handful of Lockportians who founded Lockport Little League Baseball in the 1950's and went on to serve as an officer and team manager for more than 15 years. Mr. Feeley also served as an officer in Little Loop Football and was a longtime sponsor and coach in the boys basketball league at the YMCA.
In retirement, Mr. Feeley enjoyed traveling, woodworking, and games of chance. He was an avid NY Yankees fan. His high school sweetheart and wife of 56 years, Anne Farnham, passed away in 1999.
Mr. Feeley is survived by his beloved children, Nancy (John) Tarnowski of Hamburg, Patrick (Mary Anne) of Lockport, Michael (Susan) of San Antonio, TX and J. Kevin (Denise) Feeley of Wildwood, MO. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Carrie (Robert) Brawn, Kevin, Megan, Christine (Bayler) Cook, Ryan and Erin and three great grandsons, Connor, Daniel and Tyler Brawn. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Feeley was predeceased by his brothers, James and Thomas and his sister, Rosemary McKenna.
There will be no prior visitation. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
