Obituary of Jeffrey Oakes

Jeffrey B. Oakes, formerly of Lockport, passed away suddenly September 22, 2009 at home in Denton, TX. Born February 28, 1955 in Buffalo he is the son of Sally (Sterritt) Zastrow of Lockport and the late Roy N. Oakes. Jeffrey worked as a Lab and X-Ray Technician in Denton, TX. He was a member of the Billiards Team Rusty's in Denton, TX and was very involved with the go cart racing, and was a member of the North Texas Karters, of which he was a past board member also in Denton, TX. Jeffrey also marched with the Shawnee Drum & Bugle Corp and the Rochester Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corp.
Besides he mother Jeffrey is also survived by his sister Laurie Ferris of Lockport; uncle of Jillian and Kimberly Ferris; step-brother of Dennis (Wanda) Zastrow, Daniel (Jodi) Zastrow both of Lockport and Donna King of Florida. Jeffrey was predeceased by his step-father Chester Zastrow and his grandparents Albert & Pearl Sterritt and Norman & Jessie Oakes.
There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 28, 2009 at 1 PM in the Wrights Corners Volunteer Fire Hall, 4043 Lake Ave., Lockport. Memorials to the Lockport Family YMCA, 21 East Avenue, Lockport, NY 14094 or to the Wrights Corners Ladies Auxiliary, 4043 Lake Avenue, Lockport, NY 14094 or to Kali's Cure for Paralysis Foundation, 5475 Blue Heron Drive, Alma, TX 48801 would be appreciated by the family.
