Obituary of Clyde Wolcott

Clyde Frank Wolcott of Cambria went to be with the Lord on December 19, 2011. Born in Lockport on June 28, 1935, he was the son of Horace Ivy and Dorothy Ann (Fix) Wolcott. Clyde attended Lockport schools and Erie Technical College and served in the Army during peacetime.
Clyde was an operating engineer who started his own business, C.F. Wolcott Excavating in 1970. In 2006, after 48 years of excellent work, he retired and two of his sons continue in the same type of work. .
Clyde was an outgoing, friendly man who was always willing to help. In the early years, he promoted boxing in Lockport. He volunteered to be a super hero-"The Masked Marvel"- at the Exchange Circus. Clyde was a great family man; a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who coached baseball in Lockport and Cambria for many years. The first Sunday of the month, he would make his own spaghetti sauce for all his family and friends to enjoy. Clyde was an active member of the Masons and First Presbyterian Church of which he served as a deacon. Clyde himself enjoyed flying, camping and old cars. He is loved and will surely be missed.
Clyde married the love of his life, Betty Harris on November 15, 1952. This year, they celebrated 59 years together with most of the 43 members of their family.
Clyde is survived by his beloved wife, Betty. His heartbroken children are Robin Andrews, Clyde "Kevin" (Barb), Mark (Su), Linda Mrowka (Frank "Juju"), Cindy Faery (Richard "Butch"), all of Lockport and Greg (Guylene) of Albany. Grandchildren include Carleen, Paul, Clyde, Christine, Crystal, Ben, Frank, Jess, Tekla, Andy, Elizabeth, Bill, Mathew, Jessica, Josef, Kate, Devon, Betty Sue, Jesi, Zachary, Molly and their mother Jenn. Great Grandchildren are Kourtney, Matthew, Paul David, Kevin Robert, Samantha, Cash, Thomas, Violet, Henry and Obadiah. Clyde is the brother of Edna Peach, Horace Wolcott, and Bonnie Brown, and brother-in -law to Maureen Dracup, Bert and Geri Lein and Maria Wolcott. Clyde has many nieces and nephews in the area. He is predeceased by his brothers Earl, Carl, George and Robert as well as his sisters Ivy, Dorothy, Florence and Winiferd.
