Marylou Ruppel passed away December 7, 2011 at Orchard Manor nursing home in Medina, New York. Born March 12, 1930 in Middleport she was the daughter of Perry and Bessie (Collins) Smith. Marylou was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She took great pride in caring for her family and home. She enjoyed cooking, baking doing crossword puzzles and playing the organ. She was very interested in our nations politics and would voice her opinions through campaign contributions to support her beliefs on the conservative agenda. Marylou participated in many community events, such as being a sewing instructor and judge for the Royalton Center 4-H group and Niagara County Fair. She attended cosmetology school and was a beautician for a number of years.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years Richard Ruppel; mother of Steven & (Maria) Ruppel of Medina; Richard J & (Deborah) Ruppel of Middleport; Kathleen & (Patrick) Mooney of Gasport and Linda & (John) Lakatosh of Newark, Delaware. Grandmother of Alayna & Renee Ruppel; Richie (Rebecca) Ruppel and Christine (Brian Rice) Lakatosh and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Muriel & (Keith) Newman, Patricia & (Gary) Suzanne, Carol Beeby, Sally & (Richard) Kubatek) and brother Edwin & (Beverly) Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers Robert Smith, Harold Smith and Wallace Smith and daughter Lynn Margaret Ruppel.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service December 17, 2011 at 1:00pm in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, New York.
