Obituary of Virginia Woodside

Virginia T. &amp;quot;Ginny&amp;quot; Woodside passed away, peacefully, on Friday, November 18, 2011, at home. Born on August 7, 1928 in Lockport, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Mary Antonina (Komisarek) Delahunt. She was the youngest of seven children. She married Douglas E Woodside on December 4, 1950. He predeceased her on October 27, 2000. Ginny is survived by her children, Keith &amp;quot;Kip&amp;quot; (Joanne) Woodside of Lockport and her daughter, lris (Paul) Waters of Middleport. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Katie Woodside, Korrie Waters and Richard Waters. Ginny is also survived by her dear friends, Lorraine and Jim Gizzarelli of Gasport, and Lorraine Shelton of Newfane. Her grandson Bradley Waters, passed away on August 27, 1996. Her siblings, Nan Updegrove, John &amp;quot;Ed&amp;quot; Delahunt, Doris Sawyer, Francis &amp;quot;Hank&amp;quot; Delahunt, Mary Ruth Delahunt and James Delahunt also predeceased her. Ginny lived in the Lockport area her entire life. She attended Lockport schools and dropped out of the 10th grade so she could work to help support her family. She was affectionately known as &amp;quot;Red&amp;quot; to many of her co-workers at Harrison Radiator. She retired from there in 1988 after 25 years of service. Ginny was described by those who knew her as a &amp;quot;fun and upbeat person&amp;quot; who enjoyed traveling and helping others. She enjoyed telling stories of her life to her family and friends. Ginny loved being outdoors and for many years, played golf on a league and went boating in Wilson with her family. Up until her recent illness, Ginny was an avid bowler who bowled on the senior leagues at both Allie Brandt&amp;#39;s and South Transit Lanes. She was always striving to improve her technique and was proud that she had bowled over 600 on more than one occasion. Ginny loved animals and had a great love for her dog, Molly and her three cats, Max, Toby and Mickey. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and expressed her love for them with her generous and kind actions. Friends may call on Tuesday, November 22nd from 1 to 3 and 5 to 9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 23rd at 10AM in Grace Episcopal Church, 100 Genesee St, Lockport. Internment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. Memorials to Save-A-Pet or to the Niagara County SPCA would be appreciated by the family. <h3>Visitation</h3> Friends may call on Tuesday, November 22nd from 1 to 3 and 5 to 9 PM <h3>Services</h3> A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 23rd at 10AM in Grace Episcopal Church, 100 Genesee St, Lockport. <h3>Interment</h3> Internment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.
