Obituary of Micahel Pullano

Michael J. Pullano passed away October 24, 2011 at the Niagara Hospice House, with his family at his side. Born May 3, 1950 in Niagara Falls, NY he is the son of Arlene (Tompkins) Pullano Smiedala and the late Anthony Pullano. Michael was a teacher, earning his Bachelors Degree in History from The College of the Holy Cross and a Masters in Special Education from Buffalo State. He began his teaching career at DeSales High School, where he taught Social Studies and coached football and track & field. He eventually took a position at North Park Junior High School, where he taught Social Studies and Special Education before moving to Lockport High School where he retired as a Special Education teacher in 2009. He was an active member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Lockport and enjoyed landscaping and NASCAR. Michael will always be remembered for his selflessness, his kindness to others, his humility, and devotion to his family, friends and students.
Besides his beloved mother, Michael is survived by his loving wife Monica (Ross) Pullano of Lockport and his son William R. Pullano of New York City. He is the caring brother of Gerald (Lynn) Pullano of Hamburg, Richard (Wendy) Pullano of Darnestown, MD, Mary (Ray) Antonucci of Buffalo and the late William Pullano; also survived by cherished nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday and Friday from 4-7 PM at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 AM in St. Mary's Church, 6919 Transit Road, Swormville. Please assemble at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094; Food for the Poor, 6401 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, FL 33073; or DeSales Catholic School, 6914 Chestnut Ridge Road, Lockport, NY 14094.
The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Niagara Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
