Obituary of Rosalie Lewis

Rosalie Lewis passed away October 16, 2011 under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born November 15, 1928 in Santuck, SC she was the daughter of Daniel and Hattie (Peak) Savage. Rosalie worked for Harrison radiator for 22 years in production retiring in 1999. She was 1st Lady at First AME Church, Lockport, Delaine Waring, Buffalo, Bethel Lackawanna and Hartly, Delaware. Rosalie lived her life to help others be it a family member or a stranger. She was one of the founders of the Western New York Missionary Society serving in many capacities, one of which was vice president as well as fundraising chairperson. Rosalie served as Missionary Advisor at the First AME Church under the pastorate of her late husband. She was president of the Alberta G. Phillips Missionary Society at the First AME Church for many years, traveling throughout the United States. Rosalie was a member of the Lay Organization and served on the Stewardess Board and the Pastors Aid Society. She was predeceased by her husband Rev. Henry Lewis, Sr. on March 3, 1986.
Rosalie is survived by her children Henry (Marleen), Robert (Wanda), Ronald (Danette), Kenny Lewis, and Lorraine (Late, William) Jones; eleven grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and special aunt to Beverly; sister of Willie "Bud" (Dorothy) Savage and late Adam "Red" Savage, Theodora McNeil, Rosa Lee "Sis" Lewis and Beatrice Burt; sister-in-law of Mattie (Late, Buster) Savage; a host of nieces and nephews.
