Joseph L. Mundy passed away August 24, 2011 in Newfane Rehab & Health Care Center. Born in Wilkes Barre, PA on September 2, 1923 he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Mabel (Collins) Mundy. Joseph was a 1941 graduate of Wilkes Barre Township High School he was also a three year veteran of WW II serving in the Pacific Theatre. While in service he was in the campaigns New Guinea, Luzon, Dutch New Guinea and Philippines. Joseph earned the Good Conduct Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Star, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal with two Bronze Stars and also the Victory medal. He worked for 30 years at C.A. Hackett, Inc. in Lackawanna retiring in 1982 where he was a supervisor. Joseph was predeceased be his wife of 48 years Geraldine Parrott Mundy and his sister Margaret Mundy Bristol.
He is survived by his daughter Judith (Adrian) Sherman of Lockport; grandfather of Karen Ann (Raymond) Hodil and Kathleen (Timothy) Andrews both of Lockport; great grandfather of eight and great-great grandfather of six; brother of Regina Villina, Ruth Albrecht and Rita Simonetti all of Wilkes Barre, PA; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
