Obituary of Douglas R. Nagel

Douglas R. Nagel passed away November 9, 2024 in Buffalo General Medical Center.  Born May 15, 1951 in Lockport he was a son of Robert W. and Helen W. (Dence) Nagel.  Doug graduated from Newfane Central School in 1969.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University in 1973.  He worked in various engineering positions throughout his career.  Doug was an avid model railroader and a longtime member of the Niagara Orleans Model Railroad Engineers.  He made an operational HO scale model of the Somerset Railroad/Rotary car coal dumper, which won various modeling awards.  Doug enjoyed attending NASCAR races with his son David, model train events, and vacationing with his wife Barbara.

Doug is survived by his wife Barbara (Richards) Nagel; son David (Nicole) Nagel; brother Barry (Nancy) Nagel; in-laws Robert (Diane) Richards and Kathleen (Dan Dombrowski) Richards; also seven nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Friday, Nov. 15th from 4-7 PM at Prudden And Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 16th at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.  Interment will be in North Ridge Cemetery.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
