

Obituary of Joan Ann Felvus
Joan A. Felvus passed away Thursday, October 17th, 2024. She was born on February 15, 1942, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Ray and Viola (Skinner) Swendsen. Joan worked for Ridge Road Express for 28 years as a school bus driver, transitioning to a school bus monitor during her final year before retiring. She enjoyed doing crafts, quilting, going to the casino, playing cards, and, most of all, spending time with her family.
Joan married her late husband, James L. Felvus Sr. (1939-2007), on October 26, 1957. Together, they had eight children, James Jr. (Cheryl) Felvus, Jay (Emily) Felvus, Joanna Felvus, Jodi (Daniel) Zastrow, Jillinda Prentice, Jamie (Ginene) Felvus, Jodel Woods, and Jantel (Jeffrey) Andrews.
Joan is predeceased by her husband James Sr. and her siblings: Rose (Swendsen) Race, Clifford Swendsen, Dorothy (Swendsen) Moreland, Mae (Swendsen) Andes, Robert Swendsen, Melvin Swendsen.
She is survived by her siblings: Lester Swendsen, Arlene (Swendsen) Heisner, Adelaide (Swendsen) Butler; her children; her grandchildren: Michael (Mallory) Felvus, Maile Felvus, Benny (Bart) Blair, Erin Felvus, Lauren Felvus, Matthew Drake, Mark (Onalee) Drake, David Prentice, Jessica Prentice, Joshua (Natalie) Woods, Shane (Megan) Woods, Ashly (Michael) Woods, Anna Andrews, Zoe Andrews; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Please join us as we come together and honor the life of Joan A. Felvus (Swendsen). A luncheon and refreshments will be served May 11, 2025 from 12 pm-3 pm at Bonds Lake Warming house, located at 2571 Lower Mountain Road, Ransomville, NY 14131. We have all felt sadness and grief for Mom’s passing, but now it is time for us to celebrate the remarkable life and cherish the memories we have. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice Niagara, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport:, NY 14094.
