Dear family,
I just found out yesterday of your mother's passing and I want to express my deepest sympathies to you. My husband, Wayne, and I lived next door to your mom on Forestview for many years. We moved out of town a year ago today. We found out over the summer of your mom's illness. We had been hoping to see her when we came into town. Your mom was always a fantastic neighbor and we appreciated living next door to her.
I know this is a sorrowful time for your family and our thoughts and prayers go out to you. Our end of Forestview Drive was tranquil and peaceful and your mom was an integral part of that.
God Bless all of you.

To Dr. Mom's family,
It was with great sadness that we learned of Cathy's passing. She was a dear friend and colleague during our time at DYU.. it is difficult to know she is gone. She was a wonderful teacher, had a great sense of humor and a smile that lit up a room.
We hope that the many, many happy memories you had with her soften the loss you feel. Know that she was cherished by so many.
Our deepest condolences to you all.
Dr. Glen and Connie McClary

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Dr. Cathleen?
A: People are remembered for the hearts and minds they have touched. Cathy interacted with others with kindness, empathy, humor, and a dedication to service — to her family, children and adult students, friends, and the community.
I have so many wonderful memories of times with Cathy. They bring a tear to the eye because there will be no additions, but, slowly, a smile for the gift of knowing her.
I especially remember our conversations. We talked all the time — on the train to Albany, in the car going hither and yon, at restaurants, and on the phone. Cathy was a great listener and a sensitive responder; she stretched my thinking.
"Best friends are the people who make you laugh a little louder, smile a little brighter, and live a lot better" Cathy will always and forever be in that category.

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Dr. Cathleen?
A: I know that when most of us think of Cathy we remember her as kind, thoughtful, intelligent, generous, and loving. And indeed, she was!
However, there was far more to Cathy that kept us close friends for 65 years.
One thing I know I’ll also remember about Cathy is what a tease, a jokester, she was! Those teasing moments now can override my sadness by making me smile. One of those moments that stands out occurred when Cathy and I went shopping one day with our six children (Libby was in school).
We both lived in Lockport at that time and did most of our shopping there. When holidays grew near, we would often connect for a visit to Ames Department store because they had fabric and sewing needs aplenty. We both sewed most of our clothes and constructed holiday gifts in similar fashion. On a very busy pre-Christmas day while Cathy and I were in the back of the store moving between tables piled with fabric, holding up pieces, asking the other’s opinion, and basically, captured by tasks involving fabric—not children—we suddenly heard a loud squeal as Matt popped up and then scooted back under a table! As I looked around for our other kids, I noticed several people staring at Cathy and me with disgusted looks on their faces. Cathy then, immediately, responded by turning to me, and saying, “Ardie! Aren’t you going to do anything about Matt? He’s really misbehaving!”
So, I played along, added another member to my family while the people stood and watched. Ironically, Cathy’s joke turned out to be a good move that day, because Matt DID respond to me and settled down! However, the next time all of us went shopping, and Matt again acted up, he again became my child—and to be honest, I really didn’t mind.
For years, when we were planning to go somewhere together, Cathy and I laughed about who would be Matt’s mom. Nevertheless, the other kids kept us busy, as well—like the time Brad gave Brian a ride in his mom’s clothes dryer!
Thank you, Cath, for being a loving BFF,
Ardie

As kids, it seemed like we were most often “running through the house.” We probably sounded like a herd of elephants! I remember we would be so quick in the bathroom, Cathy would always question whether we washed our hands! LOL. I have many fond memories of the house on South Main.

I have been Cathy’s hairdresser for many years . I loved her like family. We have shared so very much and I have always cherished the friendship that we had. She has always been such an inspiration in my life and I’ve had the upmost respect for her in all that she would so unselfishly do for others I will miss her terribly. Thoughts and prayers for her wonderful family
