Elaine M. Hamilton passed away at Buffalo General Medical Center on July 25, 2024. She was born on February 15, 1952, in Kingston, Jamaica, the daughter of Phyllis (Mother Flash) Llewelyn and the late Edgar DaCosta.

Elaine was passionate about helping people and dedicated most of her years to working at Elderwood at Lockport Nursing Home. She retired to spend more time with her family. Elaine enjoyed taking long daily walks around town, listening to reggae music, traveling, and staying updated on politics. Since retiring, she had set aside specific time to watch her TV shows and preferred not to be interrupted. Fun fact: Elaine grew up on an island and loved the beach but did not learn how to swim. Elaine is at her happy place where she will learn to swim.

Elaine is survived by her children: Chudean (Clair) Hamilton, Jacqueline Shakes, Shellyann Hamilton, Sharon Campbell-Grant, Sheryl Campbell-Williams, Alshey Blackwood, and AnnMarie Bailey. She is also survived by her siblings Marvalin Brown and Errol DaCosta, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to viewing hours Saturday, August 10th from 10 am to 12 pm, followed by the service at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport with services following at 12 pm.  Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.
